ReProfiler is a free, portable utility designed to easily reassign or repair Windows user profile data when an account becomes detached from its physical folder on the hard drive. In Windows, a user account consists of two parts: the account entry (the login name) and the data profile (the folder containing your documents, desktop, and registry settings under C:\Users).
If a registry error or domain migration breaks the link between these two, Windows will log you into a blank “Temporary Profile” and hide your data. Instead of digging through the registry manually, you can use ReProfiler on SourceForge to quickly re-link them. ⚠️ Critical Prerequisites
Log in as a separate Administrator: You cannot repair or modify a profile that is currently logged in. You must log into a separate local administrator account before launching the tool.
Backup your data: Always create a copy of your target user folder inside C:\Users before altering registry permissions. How to Reassign a User Profile
Launch the software: Open ReProfiler with administrator privileges.
View the profile map: The main window displays a top list of Accounts (Windows usernames recognized by the system) and a bottom list of Profiles (physical data folders found in C:\Users).
Select the target account: Click on the specific Windows account name that you want to fix in the top pane.
Select the correct folder: In the bottom pane, click on the physical profile folder that contains the user’s actual data.
Reassign ownership: Click the Assign button. ReProfiler will automatically alter the Windows Registry entries under ProfileList and rewrite file permissions so that the account claims ownership over that folder.
Restart your PC: Reboot the computer and log into the repaired account to verify that all documents and settings have returned. Common Use Cases for ReProfiler
